Patricia served as the Latin America/Caribbean regional secretary with the United Church of Christ Board for World Ministries, 1982-89.  She also was the General Secretary of Church Women United from 1989-1994.  In 1995 she returned to Oregon where she held several positions at Portland State University.  In 1999 she founded the Jubilee Oregon chapter of the Jubilee USA Network and later served as co-chair of the national board of Jubilee USA.  

She has a passion for justice for women, victims of war and gender violence, economic inequality.  She believes that women do justice differently than men.  She is the mother of one adult daughter, Deborah
.

Patricia Rumer began her career in Guatemala in 1969 as a community development volunteer with the American Friends Service Committee working in a rural highland Quiche speaking community.  She has returned frequently to unite with a part of her heart that still lives there.  She participated in a women’s human rights delegation to Guatemala in August, 2013.  Patricia is writing a book on her social justice journey.  She was transformed by what she saw and learned from the people of Guatemala.  She is fluent in Spanish.  For the past seven years Patricia has taught senior Capstones at Portland State University with a focus on women and development.
